ABOUT JAMES BOWERS, M.D., FACP

Northwest Hospital has been Dr. James Bowers’ home since 1984 when he began his medical career as a floor nurse. Following his nursing career at Northwest Hospital, Dr. Bowers earned his medical degree from the University of Washington in 1991. He completed his internal medicine residency at the Portland Program for Primary Care Internal Medicine. He has been a member on Northwest Hospital’s medical staff since 1994 when he opened private practice at the hospital. He also served as Chief of Staff for the hospital from 2004 to 2006. During this time, Dr. Bowers enjoyed working with the hospital administration on many projects that fostered safer and more personalized care for patients.

Dr. Bower’s wife Mary and his two sons, Jordan and Scott, keep him busy travelling, discovering new and incredible places, and pursuing interesting past times like surfing and long-boarding. Dr. Bowers became an avid triathlon competitor and has even competed in an Ironman-distance triathlon in California that covered 140.6 miles of swimming, biking and running.
